Coronavirus (COVID-19) Public Safety Alert

RELEASED: MARCH 19, 2020 – 3:00PM

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and public safety, and in accordance with the direction of the CDC and Governor’s Office the City of New Plymouth is taking preemptive measures to ensure that government services continue to operate. No COVID-19 cases have been linked to New Plymouth, but the City must do everything possible to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Consequently, today, the New Plymouth City Council adopted Resolution 2020-01 declaring a local disaster emergency pursuant to Idaho law in order to provide the tools that may be necessary to protect the citizens of New Plymouth from the effects of COVID-19.  The entire text of Resolution 2020-01 can be found on the city’s webpage.

Starting Monday, March 23, New Plymouth City Hall will be closed. City staff will be available via phone and email to assist residents. All City business can be transacted via telephone, email, online, or mail. For business that must be made in person, appointments can be made. All pertinent contact information for city staff and departments can be found on the city website at www.npidaho.com.

Other facilities and programs which will be temporarily suspended until further notice include:

  • The Armoral Tuttle Library has suspended all programs and will remain closed until further notice.
  • Kiwanis Park restrooms will be closed.

City employees will still be coming to work and it will largely be business as usual for City services, including trash pickup and public safety.

While this may be a temporary inconvenience, we ask for your patience and cooperation as we work through this challenging time together.

Community health and safety is a top priority for us. We expect this to continue for the coming weeks, and we will provide updates via our web site.
